Certified Slingerland Teacher
Certified Slingerland Teachers (CSTs) have completed the full course of classes on how to implement the Slingerland Approach as classroom teachers and tutors. Courses include:

The Slingerland Certification Committee evaluates candidates’ Slingerland instruction to ensure effective use of the Approach with students in classrooms and tutoring settings.
*Each Comprehensive class is eligible for 6 PCE credits through The University of San Diego
IMSLEC Criteria
Teacher Level
Before applying for certification, candidates for the Teacher level must complete all coursework and meet IMSLEC requirements. The chart below confirms alignment between IMSLEC Standards and Slingerland Standards for certification at the Teacher level.
The Certification Portfolio
Certification at the Teacher level requires submission of a portfolio of materials demonstrating the certification candidate’s skill with the Slingerland® Approach including:
Recorded Lesson
Video of a single, complete Slingerland lesson
Recorded Lesson Plan
Written Slingerland lesson plan matching the recording
Written Lesson Plans
Two additional written Slingerland lesson plans
Committee Review
Certification Committee members evaluate the portfolio
Maintaining CST Certification
To maintain certification, every three years a CST must:

1. Submit record of 30 hours of IMSELC CEUs
2. Maintain a Current SLI Subscription
2. Provide Current Background Check
3. Attend at least one (1) Faculty Senate Meeting every three years
4. Pay the certification fee
5. Be confirmed by the Faculty Senate
