The Basics Class

Key Teachings from the Slingerland Approach

Our Three Most Requested Short Classes Combined

The Basics Class merges three Short Classes and includes 65 classroom hours. This class focuses on the foundations of literacy acquisition, the knowledge of diverse reading profiles including dyslexia, and the general principles for explicit, structured, sequential, multisensory instructional strategies for teaching reading, spelling, handwriting, and written expression. Classes are approved for graduate level extension credit through University of San Diego.

A young fair skinned woman with dark brown braided hair sits on a wooden table and looks out of a window in a class room with a laptop on her crossed legged lap. She has large dark brown circular glasses, a light gray sweater, light pink shirt, and heather gray leggings with black closed toed shows. She sits cross legged with her right hand resting on her chin. That same arm has a gold watch on it. In the background there is a red purse on the table behind her, and even further back in the classroom are several metal stools. The room is industrial, and with a large steel window to the left.
