SLINGERLAND® COMPREHENSIVE COURSE SCHOLARSHIPS

The Slingerland® Institute for Literacy is pleased to announce that we will be offering partial scholarships for Summer 2013 Slingerland Comprehensive Courses.

Scholarships are only awarded for the Slingerland Comprehensive Courses that contain a practicum that gives trainees the opportunity to apply what they are learning during the program.

In awarding scholarships, we are looking for the "multiplier effect." That is, we strive to fund multisensory language education for those teachers who will reach the most students over the length of their career. For this reason, first priority for scholarships will be given to classroom teachers, especially those working with children in grades K-2. However, educational therapists and other professionals are encouraged to apply.

After completing the training program, scholarship recipients are required to conduct a short informational meeting with teachers, administration and/or groups of parents explaining what they have learned from the course and how they plan to implement what they have learned. If they are unable to conduct a public meeting, they will need to plan a brief presentation as if they were explaining the training to a goup of teachers that includes what they have learned from the course and how they plan to implement what they have learned.

Scholarship applications received by April 1, 2013, will be given first priority. Late applications are welcome and will be considered until all funds have been granted. Applications may be submitted via email. Please be aware that there are two separate process:

  • 1) applying for and enrolling in an approved teacher training course and
  • 2) apply for a teacher training scholarship.

  • Time is critical with both, as spaces and funding are limited. Membership with the Slingerland® Institute and proof of enrollment in one of the eligible courses is required in order to apply for one of our partial scholarships.

Scholarship recipents will be notified by May 1, 2013 if they have been awarded a scholarship. Please see the timeline below for further important details
